About Kando Inoue
Born in Shizuoka, Japan in 1944, Kando Inoue is a zen master (teacher) of the Soto Zen. He studied with his father Gien Inoue (1984-1981), one of the most prominent realized zen masters in modern Japan. Kando realized the truth (satori) at age 16, and received inka (master's certification of a disciple's satori). He has been teaching zen all his life to monks and ordinary persons throughout Japan, including Tokyo, Shizuoka, Kyoto, and Kobe, Okayama. He currently resides in Shorinji Temple in Shizuoka, Japan.
His publications include History of the Shorinji Temple (in Japanese only); Lectures on Genjo Koan, Shobogenzo (currently in Japanese only, English translation in progress); and Prerequisite Understanding for Zen Practice: What is the Truth, Satori, and Zen Practice (in Japanese only).
